About Pendulum Simulator

This website was created in 2026 by Christos Makrypodis for his Computing Technology Assignment.

Explaination of the different functions of the simulator

Gravity

Changes the pull of gravity on the pendulum bob.
Default: 9.8 (Earth). Lower values feel like the Moon, higher like Jupiter.

Damping

Adds friction or air resistance. It slows the pendulum down over time.
0 = no energy loss (swings forever). Higher values make it stop faster.

Wind

A constant horizontal force. Positive values push to the right, negative to the left.

Drive Amplitude

Strength of a rhythmic push applied to the pendulum.
Set to 0 to turn off driving. Higher values create bigger swings.

Drive Frequency

Frequency of the rhythmic push (Drive)), in cycles per second (Hz).

Length

Sets the length of the pendulum rod in metres.
Longer pendulums swing more slowly.

Start Angle

The angle the pendulum is released from (in degrees).
0° is straight down. Changing this resets the pendulum's speed to zero.

Mass

Determines the weight of the pendulum bob in kilograms.
